Formulus June Bug Touring RC Car

It's been a while. Well I was busy, fighting art block, butt pains, and making custom content for a PC game, Re-Volt. This here is my latest creation: A German-inspired touring car called the June Bug Touring, manufactured by the fictional company, Formulus. In-Game, the car is semi-pro class, electric powered, RWD, and top speeds up to 38mph. Complete with 11 different colors.

This is the most recent render, I manage to blend the floor with the background just to get this shot. I got a new PC, and this took me seconds to render.

To begin, I started with a simple design, heavily inspired by the Volkswagen (Then-New) Beetle Cup Car, down to it's yellow color.

A simple test. I'm also adjusting the parameters for this thing, and at the time it handles terribly.. Like the headlights, which are pre-rendered.

The backside with one of the alt skins. This is a straight-up jab at the clothing company, Supreme as you could tell. Initially the borders were going to be vertex-painted, until I realize that's not a good idea.

The bug flies. The wheels are temporary, taken from my custom dune buggy, the Xeno Railer.

This is the part I decided to get silly with the rendering. I experimented with the color mixing just to make this thing pop in colors. Oh, and the textures are updated.

The front with updated headlights. The lamp is too bright, but I updated these wheels with 16-spokes.

The similar render as before, but with some green. The Green version had a different livery, just for variety.

Another with the SOUPREEM Skin and without the fancy color mixing. The main rendering thing I do was use nodes so I could render both the textures & vertex shading at the same time, and this is one with just the Texture & vertex shading.

Like the one before, but this one I call the DOSA configuration, where I mix the Diffuse with the Overlay mix, and the Specular with the Add mix. See node chart.

The node chart. My original idea was to make some primitive bumpmapping without the hassle of making the texture myself. The results ends up different, which I kinda liked more.

Some action, featuring pink, lime green, blue, dark green, and an early mix color.

Another featuring brown, blue, white, and the SOUPREEM kings themselves.

One more, but with updated colors.

So this here is the Harlequin paintjob. Also inspired by Volkswagen, but with the special edition Polo with 4 colors mix & matched all over. I was thinking about reusing the colors from previous skins, but nah... Let's make it vibrant.

The transparent render I did to put it in the custom carbox for the game. I used the DOSA config for this.
