Xeno Railer (RC Dune Buggy)
I started to make another 3D project, but this time it's going to be a Dune Buggy, my personal FAV off-road vehicle.
(UPDATE JAN 2nd 2021): WOW, I didn't know I haven't update this since I finished the car, last year on March. So here's how I redid the buggy and make it a Re-Volt car.
The sketch design. The Dune buggy's design is based off several buggies, but the most proominent is from the 2000 PS2 game, Smuggler's Run.
A clean design from Inkscape, with a top-down view. The reason I made the outline stupidly thick is because that's the main frame/chassis. The most dominant feature of the buggy is the spare wheel on the back.
Modelling. This is barely started, but I could get the feel of this when I work on this.
I redid the design using curves... Well, more of straights. The polys are going to be painful to edit out.
This project has continued on March 11th, 2020. The rail chassis remained the same, but this time I have a better technique: Make the rails squared.
The same thing but finish the chassis. The white rail piece is a separate part.
The Buggy in action. For fun I made it HUGE, but it didn't work out. This here is still bigger than the average Re-Volt car.
Back side. There's no spare wheel at the moment.
(03-12) Updated with the crucial parts. What I remember making this was the suspension is a painful procedure, as sometimes the rear suspension moves out of the socket.
Size Comparison. Comparing with this and the truck, I did say that it's big. Note the rear "springs" piercing through the tires.
(03-14) Some speed. I may have reduced the size a bit, and I liked this shot.
I forgot to mention that I added a seat & working steering wheel.
(03-15) The next part to add are textures. It's rough. Fortunately, the rail textures don't need to be super detailed.
(03-17) Texture update. Having the paneling flat-colored looked bland, so as an RC car you need it to make it appealing. This is one of the changes. The skin here is based off Smuggler's Run.
(03-19) The final skins. The red one is the default.

Blue Buggy.
This peculiar livery here is based off a Toyota Dune buggy driven by Bob Gordon in the Baja Rally. There's only 1 game that buggy was featured and it was in Midway's Off-Road Challenge.
An unfinished Black skin. Dunno why I left it out, but I already got a more appealing Black Buggy skin.
The Carbox texture. This skin was never made as it's a placeholder. Yeah, I'm no good with box arts.
