Vivi in 3D, Again (Progress)

VIVI! That bunny girl I draw for the hell of it is getting a redesign (in case you haven't looked at her swimsuit pic). So tell me, why am I redesigning her, AGAIN? despite the 5th version being well as good? Well actually that late 2017 model is flawed since I never rigged a model beforehand. A common flaw with Viv isn't just the lankiness or malformed body parts, but she looks like a pale-skinned human with a couple rabbit features (the ears & tail). Sort of a Neko girl but with a bunny. So the 6th design I'm making her more bunny-like while retaining her cute looks.

This is just a BIG PORTION out of the 70+ pics I documented since MAY. Yeah, progress is what you call "slow." BTW, I'm putting this NSFW because half of this is just a naked Bunny girl with no nipples.

(May 24th) To begin as all models should be: An outline. The complete overhaul of her design is simple: Make her more bunny like like the detailed ears, nose, fluffy cheeks, and a cooler sword.

The sword is given a new design from the cartoony broadsword from previous designs. The blade shapes like Viv's ears, and had markings engraved on it.

The full sheet. I uploaded this to my DA & NG, a month & a half ago, but this is the full outline out of the sketch, along with some things on top. Her rack is more of a Size C-D, btw.

Some bare progress. Initially I restart the modelling process because it doesn't look right, and the body is awfully boxy. This time I got a more better sense of anatomy.

Pic here is where I had legs. Well, the limbs were ripped from Judi's, but remodeled to fit with Viv's reference sheet.

After 27 pics, the first textures arrived, and it's actually the eyes ripped from the ref sheet. I tried to go with the Zelda: Wind Waker style, but it doesn't work out.

The first render. So the hair's modeled, hairband made, mouth texture implemented, updated eyes that's experimental, and using my favourite material: FRESNEL.

A nice little sit pose on the surface, with finalized eyes, but that only hides my OTHER bane of my artistic existence: Weight painting the waist area. Seriously, that's an issue here.

Pic here is the full 180 of Vivi I show to some groups. They suggested to update the proportions a little, like giving her a rib cage and abdomen.

A thing you haven't notice is that I added a couple cloth physic meshes, specifically her hair and her breasts. The hair gave me trouble which I sacrificed the back of the hair spikes, and shorten the length. That, and not to mention I updated her hands.

Something that I like to play around back & forth: An outline mesh. I know there's the Freestyle, but that thing is janky & doesn't play well with non-hi-rez models like Vivi here.

This here is where I start the body texturing. Oh, and you gotta love the dumb "Circular reference in Texture Stack" error when you attempt to bake these.

Reflection (Sept. 25th). So this is where I did the main textures, featuring barely visible body fur, reflections, and a tramp stamp for good measure.

Yeah, it's been forever, I know. A plethora of eye pages. To be specific, there's a total of 83 PAGES worth for one eye. This is from Sept. 28th, btw.

Gaming. This was used as a reference for a simple piece I drew in early October. The couch & controller are repurposed from my custom Re-Volt track which I didn't finish.

Updated as of Nov. 4th. I've given her clothes, so she won't be cold in this void of sky blue nothingness. The materials are temporary.

Textured clothes with JEANS. Symmetrical jeans that are not done & didn't apply the mirror modifier.

During the entire process before this pic took place, the cloth likes to stretch a lot more than the bones, and it was a problem at first, until there is a "stretch to" bone constraint to fix that.

A walk render. I've actually updated the walk render, a day after this pic took place. This still of animation is rough, mainly for her feet kept rotating on the ground as the surface looked like it's soft.

A textured sword, and updated hand model. The sword's handle had to be shortened just to make her hand fit more. The thing about the hands is that I have to update that for both models, but I know my ways around that.

HOLD UP! The mirror modifier is applied temporarily for this render, and she's a NIN fan. I made the clothes resemble more of the main ref sheet, above.

Latest pic (Nov. 28th). This time, I updated her hair, and re-do her ears to make it resemble the ones in the ref sheet. After the walking animation I did, I upscaled everything 400%,which had their own set of issues like I needed to update the physics.

A nosebleed, and she's ready to strike. It's a good dynamic pose, but the problem with the arm rig is that it's not treated like the legs, so I have to painstakingly rotate the arms individually.

So what's good for accessories without a belt? This one's a pain to work with, especially when it clips through her if I tend to bend her a few degrees.

So the previous pic looks like she needed new clothes. The reason is that I'm not liking the color palette which is all over the place. Doing some research, it tells me that I should have 10 main colors or less. More would be overbearing.

A BIT unusual, but this crude sprite is helpful for what colors would fit her, so I could update these textures with some ease.

The latest & probably final pic here, is the result with some updating weights, reconstructive hand surgery, solving problems, and some dignity.
